Here’s
one of the best collections of classical music for children I’ve
ever heard. The pieces
are played by two well-trained musicians who beautifully accompany
each other in their duets on guitar and violin.
The arrangements are simplified so that young ears (and old)
can focus on the lovely melodies.
The soothing style encourages restful imagery and possibly
induces the listener to relax to the point of sleep, hence the
title.
However,
the music is not just for putting young ones to sleep.
It is simply great listening.
The combination of guitar and violin is so appealing because
of it’s simplicity and clean sounds.
I especially enjoyed this CD because there were no
distractions with orchestra instruments to burden the music.
The arrangements are very appealing and the choice of
selections superb. The
pieces range from the traditional Brahams’ lullaby to George
Gershwin’s Summertime and Grieg’s Berceuse.
Each
classical piece is whittled down to an easy listening time of about
two minutes or less – perfect for young ears and attention spans.
Adults, particularly those unfamiliar with these classical
pieces, will find this CD an excellent introduction to the music.
I
highly recommend this CD. It
will make an excellent addition to any collection.
