Melissa's birth story
Both my daughters were born at home with
aboriginal midwives attending. They were so great. I was never told what
was going to happen to me, it was always my decision. I found the
compleat mother after my first daughter was born . She was never
vaccinated. I allowed my second daughter to have a vitamin K shot but
wouldn't do it again . Anyway I was 12 days overdue, been having braxton-hicks
for a month and 2cm plus for as long. I turn over in bed and hear a
"pop". Contractions follow. I get out of bed. Now I remember that
feeling-this is for real. Its 5 am . I wake my husband up. Contractions
are 2 min apart. We call the midwife. She comes really fast as I had
previously told her about my dream where she didn't make it in time. I
sit in a rocker till she gets here (half hour). Then labour really
starts. She says lets go in the bedroom to see where were starting from.
The other midwives are already setting things up in there. She checks
me-I'm 8-9cm.Baby is born at 8:01 am. Husband catches baby. A beautiful
birth. One of the midwives makes me breakfast. I didn't even miss a
meal.
